French Onion Soup

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 4-5 large gold onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce
  • 6 cups of vegetable stock
  • Baguette

  1. Chop the onions and crush the garlic
  2. Saute the onions in the melted butter mixed with olive oil for about 5 minutes before adding the garlic and stir for about 2 minutes
  3. Turn the heat down so it is extremely low (lowest setting ideally) and leave the mix to simmer with a lid for about an hour
  4. Add the worcestershire sauce, stock and sugar and cover once again
  5. Be sure to taste the soup and add salt and pepper as needed
  6. Preheat the oven
  7. Prepare the bowls by filling them with soup, adding a piece of sliced baguette and topping it with cheese
  8. Bake until the cheese is melted!
