This is a great recipe passed on by a wonderful family friend.
- Half a kilo of potatoes (medium sized peeled)
- 250 ml Creme fraiche
- 1 stick of butter
- 150 gams of emmental cheese
- Salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste
- Boil potatoes until they are 80 % cooked in salt water
- Melt butter, spread a spoon on the bottom of the gratin platter
- Cut boiled potatoes in rounds, and layer them
- Mix the remaining butter with the grated cheese and creme fraiche, and spread on top of the potatoes evenly
- sprinkle with nutmeg, pepper and salt
- Place in pre-heated oven at 220 and cook until top is crusty and golden
