French Onion Soup
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 4-5 large gold onions
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce
- 6 cups of vegetable stock
- Baguette
- Swiss or gruyere cheese
- Chop the onions and crush the garlic
- Saute the onions in the melted butter mixed with olive oil for about 5 minutes before adding the garlic and stir for about 2 minutes
- Turn the heat down so it is extremely low (lowest setting ideally) and leave the mix to simmer with a lid for about an hour
- Add the worcestershire sauce, stock and sugar and cover once again
- Be sure to taste the soup and add salt and pepper as needed
- Preheat the oven
- Prepare the bowls by filling them with soup, adding a piece of sliced baguette and topping it with cheese
- Bake until the cheese is melted!
